Hot Tips for KChlor Chlorinator owners

How to manually adjust chlorine output from 0% to100% more economically than most other chlorinators with KChlor saltwater pool chlorinators.

Manually raise or lower chlorine levels.

Most chlorinators have a Primary chlorine output controller which basically allows you to manually raise or lower chlorine output from 0% to 100% output.

The KChlor units have this control as well but not as the Primary chlorine control.

The KChlor units have 24 one hour time slots in which you select the number of hours the filter pump will run and also independently the number of hours the chlorine cell is operating. Obviously the filter pump has to be selected for the time slot in question for the chlorine cell to operate so for each time slot you select either off (default) or P for Pump or C for chlorination (and pump).

What this means is you do not have to have the chlorine cell running the whole time the pump is running. For example you may run the pump filter for say 5 to 7 hours but you may run the cell for only 3 to 5 hours depending on need.

If the cell running at 5 hours a day is creating for example too much chlorine you can throttle back the chlorine output a little as a means of fine tuning by using the normal output controller.

Which KChlor Pool Chlorinator is best for you?

It depends on the size of your pool. To calculate how many litres are in your pool simply multiply the length by the width and then the average depth (depth at the deep end plus depth at the shallow end divided by 2).

Even if your pool is not rectangular in shape, this is still a good way to measure it, as it is always a good idea to overestimate the pool size anyway, so the chlorinator you choose does not have to work too hard to maintain it. Therefore any curves in the pool can be ignored.

Two examples of using these techniques

Now let’s look at two examples of using these two techniques together.
If you are running the cell output at 50% for 8 hours a day instead of 100% for 4 hours (which will not harm the KChlor unit), you are actually using up your 10,000 hour cell Warranty twice as fast as you need to. Remembering if your chlorine output is a bit high and changing your system to run for an hour less is going to be not enough then you just thottleback the controller to say 95% for the fine tuning we spoke about earlier.

This is a great feature as you can set and forget the chlorine output but still fiddle with the filter timing depending on usage. You may now ask what about if major usage lowers chlorine levels too? Well, in this case you can use the Boost option which runs for say 6 hours at full throttle (depending on what you set it to) and then switches back to your presettings. If you come back from holidays and bad weather means a green pool you can use the Super chlorinate option which runs for 24 hours at full throttle and then switches back to your presettings also automatically.

I hope this helps with your pool enjoyment.
